Most People In WWE Had No Idea Big Show Was Leaving The Company

If you were surprised earlier today when AEW revealed they had signed Paul Wight, you weren’t alone. Despite being openly critical of his last appearance with the company at Legends Night in January, nobody openly knew Paul Wight was leaving the company.

Fightful Select has reported nobody they spoke with knew Big Show was on his way out. There wasn’t a “chorus of goodbyes” anyone knew about, and it seems the only people who had an idea were the higher ups in the company who only found out about the situation this month.

Most of the WWE talent that we spoke with had no idea of the Big Show leaving, and said there wasn’t a chorus of “goodbyes” that they recall. Meanwhile, higher ups in WWE tell us that they became aware that he would not be remaining with the company in any capacity this month.

While it’s been said Wight will wrestle for the company, it’s also been revealed he’s part of the commentary team for the new AEW Dark: Elevation show on YouTube. It’s a fresh start for a veteran who just ended a 22-year relationship with the WWE. We’ll have to see what he brings to the table for All Elite Wrestling.
