John Cena Says He Will Return To The WWE

At one point, John Cena was considered a “100% lock” for WrestleMania 37, but COVID-19 restrictions have had to unfortunately change a lot of things. Cena is in Vancouver, filming his Peacemaker spin-off show for HBO Max. With restrictions in place and the precautions that have to be taken for it, Cena confirmed that it’s logistically impossible for him to be part of this year’s WrestleMania.

However, Cena has assured fans he will be back. Cena was a guest last night on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where Fallon asked if he would return to the WWE. Cena confirmed he intends on returning to the ring, but he has obligations to the spin-off to The Suicide Squad first.

“Oh yeah, I will [be back in WWE]! I just, unfortunately, you know… the state of the world, I mean, I’m not sitting there on the couch next to you. It’s a difficult and unpredictable time, and right now, I’m doing this. I’m filming ‘Peacemaker’, and that’s going to take a lot of my time, and I can’t bounce back and forth due to international restrictions. So at least for the time being, I’m here, and I’m still away from WWE, but I very much look forward to returning as soon as I possibly can.”

While it’s unknown if restrictions or exemptions are being made for actors or athletes, it’s known that international travel into Canada and into the US requires a negative COVID-19 test before boarding and Canada enforces a strict quarantine before being able to do your business. With strict proeduction deadlines to be met on television shows, it’s unlikely there is wiggle room for Cena, but at least we know we’ll see him again.
