Chris Hero Talks About The Differences In NXT Since Moving To USA Network

Many people feel NXT changed a bit when it moved from being on the WWE Network to USA. Some people say the show had changed for the better, and others for the worse. One person who definitely recognizes the change is Chris Hero.

Chris Hero had the first episode of his new podcast, “Can Chris Hero Save Wrestling?“, where the former Kassius Ohno in NXT talked about those changes. Hero remarked about how the success of NXT has changed things at the PC, where he questions if they’re being taught to be successful for the main roster of the WWE, or NXT.

“Once they went live weekly they started losing focus of what they wanted from the talent. The first purpose of NXT was to have a television show to get talent ready for the main roster. They ended up with a lucrative deal with Full Sail and they capitalized with the niche fan instead of the casual fan.”

“The success of [NXT], muddies the water with the Performance Center. Are they trying to learn to wrestle so they can be WWE superstars or be for NXT? People say they are the same, they absolutely aren’t the same. They are run by different people who want different things. One of the reasons those with an Independent wrestling background are so successful is because they can adapt to that. When all you know is what you’ve been taught in the Performance Center, it’s hard to throw someone a curveball and it’s difficult for them to make certain adjustments.”

The changes in NXT and how much you enjoy them greatly depends on person to person. What was once simply a move to counterprogram AEW has now turned NXT even more into the company’s third brand. The changes are there, and it seems like Chris Hero sees them plain as day.
