WWE Star Credits Matt Cardona For Changing How Wrestlers Connect With Fans

Matt Cardona and Brian Myers are expanding their podcast empire beyond the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast. Cardona revealed he is starting a second podcast known as The Matt Cardona Long Island Story, and the announcement garnered a little bit of buzz. One of the people that seems excited for it is NXT Superstar Drake Maverick.

Maverick RTed the announcement from Cardona, along with revealing his opinion that Matt Cardona may have changed the game with how professional wrestlers interact with their fans and build their character.

Maverick credits Cardona, saying that without him the Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube promo doesn’t exist. Maverick may have a point. Cardona was one of the first wrestlers to fully utilize the reach of Twitter and long was the most followed star on the social media network in the WWE. Cardona then used his YouTube show to only further the popularity of his character and many people credit his work as the reason Vince McMahon began encouraging their stars to use social media.

While some of those things may be debatable, Cardona’s contribution to the evolution of pro wrestling in social media is still undeniable. And now we’ll hear more about him on his new podcast.
