NXT UK Twitter Account Gets Hammered For Wishing Sid Scala Happy Birthday

WWE has taken some large hits on social media since the Speaking Out movement. Whenever their social media features someone accused during it, WWE has found themselves buried in comments showing their displeasure as people want to see action taken against some of these people for crimes where there is more than enough evidence to establish guilt.

NXT UK was heavily hit by the Speaking Out movement, as WWE wound up suspending Joe Coffey and Jordan Devlin (though it seems for only one taping), while terminating the contracts of Travis Banks and Ligero. One person who slipped through the cracks of the accusations was NXT UK’s assistant to the General Manager, Sid Scala.

During the Speaking Out movement, British independent wrestler Mariah May tweeted out her story involving abuse at the hands of her trainers, and after people continued to wonder who it was, May eventually outed Scala and the wrestling school he trained at as being her abuser.

Though Scala was never punished on the record, his accusations are still out there. And in case anyone forgot, fans of NXT UK were quick to remind people when the NXT UK Twitter tried to wish him a happy birthday a couple days ago. While it wasn’t enough to trend in the same volume as when it came to “#FireVelveteenDream,” it was certainly eye opening for anyone who tried to agree with the account. Multiple replies came to the tweet sharing a GoFundMe set up for May to pay for legal bills as she deals with a battle involving Scala attempting to silence her.

The majority of the comments to the tweet simply post a link to May’s GoFundMe, and no one has defended Scala’s actions or declared him innocent. It’s an interesting situation and almost surprising WWE hasn’t deleted the tweet.

If you’d like to donate to May’s GoFundMe, the link is here.
