Big E has realistic ideas about where he stands when it comes to WrestleMania. As much as he’d like to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Title on the Grandest Stage Of Them All, Big E is resigned to knowing a part timer will get that honor.
In recent interviews, Big E has talked about the emphasis in the spotlight is on part time stars and people arriving from NXT. It’s also given him reason to believe that he may never get to main event WrestleMania due to the priority given to part time stars like The Rock and Goldberg. While talking to Busted Open Radio, Big E feels there’s one thing he needs to get the sort of priority to main event WrestleMania and that’s the investment from the fans.
“In our business, the fans are the barometer. They tell you immediately if something is good or something is bad. So, I can go out all day and think, ‘Man, I’m killing it’, but if I’m in front of 10,000 people and it’s crickets, then what I’m doing doesn’t mean much. That’s kind of the biggest adjustment, is really try to determine how well is this working. As we all know, Twitter and that online feedback can be very different…”
Unfortunately thanks to the lack of live fans in the WWE ThunderDome, it’s hard to tell if who’s getting over with the fans naturally as opposed to Vince McMahon’s piped in crowd reaction. Big E’s first chance in the near future to see if he’s got that great reaction live he’s hoping for is WrestleMania itself where the WWE has confirmed live fans will be in attendance. Even if Big E doesn’t think he’ll be the headliner at WrestleMania, one person hopes to see him win the Royal Rumble.
