Tony Khan Talks About The “Paid Advertisements” On Impact

One of the more amusing parts of the AEW/Impact Wrestling partnership has been the “paid advertisements” Tony Khan has done on Impact Wrestling. He and Tony Schiavone have been amusing fans with their passive aggressive shots at Impact Wrestling and they’ve garnered buzz on social media for how entertaining they’ve been.

The reaction has shocked the owner of AEW, if you ask him.

Khan was a guest on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions where she talked to him about them. It turned out that while Kenny Omega can be credited for the partnership with Impact Wrestling, the paid advertisement concept was all on him.

“I went with Kenny Omega and while I was there, Schiavone said he would come hang out. I had this idea to buy advertising on Impact and do promos. It’s great. It promotes our show and keeps that story with Impact going. When we first did it, I did not know people would enjoy them as much as they have, and I didn’t plan to keep doing them for as long as we had. They got a great reaction.”

Khan and Schiavone have become an amusing part of Impact, allowing their roles as bad guys in the company to entertain in ways they normally wouldn’t on AEW Dynamite. Here’s hoping they continue to have these paid advertisements.
