Matthew McConaughey Is “Interested” By The Idea Of Getting In A Wrestling Ring

FILE - In this Jan. 10, 2019, file photo, executive producer Matthew McConaughey arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of "True Detective" season 3 at the Directors Guild of America. The Oscar-winning actor will join the University of Texas as a professor who this fall will teach in the university's Department of Radio-Television-Film. McConaughey has been a visiting instructor at the flagship campus in Austin since 2015 and the university said in a statement Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, that the appointment recognizes his "outstanding work as a teacher and mentor." He’s conquered Hollywood, but now it seems like in between all that Matthew McConaughey wouldn’t mind taking a stab at professional wrestling.

McConaughey has recently talked about his professional wrestling love, revealing he was a fan of World Class Championship Wrestling in Texas as a younger man and his love for the Von Erich family. Now in a new interview with famous WWE fan Maria Menounos, the two talked about their love for professional wrestling and revealed to Menounos that he’s definitely interested in getting into a wrestling ring.

“I’ll say… not too much, because as you know, you can’t say too much about these things, but it is, uh, it is something that interests me…”

McConaughey is a former Oscar winning actor, and it’s certainly interesting to consider the idea of Rick Peck from Tropic Thunder in the wrestling ring. But hey, in a day in age where David Arquette has become a popular (and talented) indie wrestler, anything is possible. You can watch the interview here.
