Update On Joey Ryan’s Libel Suit Against Pelle Primeau

Pelle Primeau will be dealing with Joey Ryan a little longer.

The former ROH star has been hit by a multi-million dollar lawsuit from Joey Ryan alleging libel stemming from posts made on Twitter from Primeau. Ryan alleges the posts made by Primeau, real name Pelle Tsichlis, caused financial and personal hardship, including loss from his revenue streams like Twitch, Cameo, and Patreon. Ryan filed the suit in California as Ryan and his lawyer allege the damages were suffered in California and he should be made to defend himself there. Tsichlis’ lawyer responded to the suit looking for dismissal, also stating the posts were on a worldwide forum and should not be subject to personal jurisdiction in California.

The case was scheduled for December 21st, and in an update on it, Primeau’s case was dismissed by the California court and transferred to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The court found that the case never should have been filed in the state. Primeau is being represented by Steve New, known to wrestling fans as being Jim Cornette’s lawyer during his infamous case against indy wrestler G-Raver.

The news landed on Twitter thanks to Brian Last, the producer of Cornette’s podcasts. There is currently no date set for the case in Pennsylvania yet according to New. Primeau re-posted on Twitter his GoFundMe last night, as he had set one up to cover his legal fees.
