Jake Crist Reveals What He Believes Caused The End Of His Time With IMPACT Wrestling

Jake Crist hasn’t been shy about his impending free agency from Impact Wrestling.

He’s posted a lot on social media about his contract expiring at the end of December, and Crist has found himself looking at a 2021 that not only has him without a contract with Impact, but a 2021 as a singles star.

Jake’s brother Dave was not only singled out in the Speaking Out movement, but it led to his release from the company. It was a move that many said was a long time coming, as Dave was rumored to have a significant amount of heat in the locker room. While the movement didn’t single out Jake himself, it affected him not only as his brother was released from the company but the leader of the Cancel Culture faction he had just joined, Joey Ryan, had been revealed in numerous accusations that led to his own release. With the faction in shambles and his brother now blackballed from the company, Jake Crist remained in limbo for the last half of 2020 with almost no appearances on the show.

Speaking with Wrestling Inc., Jake Crist not only talked about a communication breakdown that has left him sitting at home the last few months of his contract and perhaps how issues with his brother played into all of that.

“My contract was up January 1 anyways. I didn’t think there was going to be any type of renewal or anything like that. I finally got ahold of the office, and I told them I had a couple opportunities coming up that I wouldn’t mind if I could jump on those. And they granted that to me. So here I am. Now, I’m free agent, can’t be more happy. I was still under contract for six months not being used and sitting at home.”

“Pretty much, yes. I wasn’t hearing anything back. I thought with the things that I’ve done for the company, the way they treated it, I thought it could have been handled… but I also understand too them wanting to distance and do everything. Like I said, there’s no hard feelings, and I wish them nothing but the best. And I have a lot of friends that still work for the company, and like I said, nothing but the best for them.”

Jake definitely sounds like he’s at peace with all the decisions and understands that he may have been accidental collateral damage from the decisions of others. For now, “The Modern Man In Black” looks prepared to take the next step in his career.
