Doubts Emerge Over Shaq’s Commitment To AEW

After being name dropped weeks ago on AEW Dynamite, Shaquille O’Neal finally made an appearance last night on Dynamite in a sit down confrontation with Brandi Rhodes.

While nothing was completely set in stone during the encounter, a future confrontation between Rhodes and Jade Cargill, but that doesn’t mean Shaq won’t be involved in some capacity. However, there is a lot of concern involving the former NBA All-Star.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said he was “warned” about Shaq. He was told there’s no guarantee Shaq will take the things he needs to do for the angle seriously, and this was why the WWE never advanced the storyline with him and The Big Show.

“That’s one of the things I was warned about with Shaq. He likes to do things, but then he doesn’t take it seriously. Some people warned me about Shaq with Cody that he might not take it too seriously as much as these guys want.”

The impression of the segment gave the idea that Shaq and Cody could still inevitably face one another. Shaq and Brandi’s confrontation eventually ended with Shaq saying something unflattering toward Brandi Rhodes and a glass of water thrown in Shaq’s face. Time will tell where it leads, but it’s open ended enough to make things interesting. You can watch the segment below.
