Internal Frustrations Revealed Over Charlotte Flair And Rhea Ripley’s WrestleMania Program
This year’s WrestleMania featured a hotly contested contest between Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley. Many fans believed that Ripley would win, allowing the WWE to create a brand new talent for the future by having Flair defeat Ripley and retain her NXT Women’s Title.
However, Ripley found herself on the wrong end of the decision, leading to a long period of limbo and frustration for her. She even admitted the frustration wound up turning into lost confidence on a recent podcast. Now it seems there was a lot of frustration on everyone’s end for that match in the WWE, according to a new report from Fightful Select.
In their report, they state the NXT creative team built a lot of plans for the angle to build toward their match, but every idea had to be approved by the Raw team. This was despite the fact the angle was centered around the NXT Women’s Title, and a majority of the plans their creative team delivered were shot down.
Ripley was originally scheduled to win the match at WrestleMania, but plans were eventually changed for Flair to go over. Their report adds there was also a “big push within NXT to add Bianca Belair” to the match, but that obviously didn’t happen despite it getting teased on television.
One wrestler they spoke with said that those in NXT should have known what they were getting into when they booked the angle.
