AEW May Have Plans For Sting To Wrestle

AEW has dominated the wrestling news cycle the last week with not just the arrival of Kenny Omega on Impact tonight, but the arrival of Sting. While Sting looks to be a full time personality on the show going forward, AEW seems to have plans for more involving Sting, including potentially wrestling.

Sting hasn’t wrestled since Night of Champions 2015 after suffering a neck injury that has been called career ending, including announcing his retirement at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2016.

Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated has reported AEW has plans for Sting to wrestle in AEW, and while there are no specifics, Barrasso noted cinematic matches and tag team matches are possible in this scenario.

Barasso went on to add that the partnership between Sting and Tony Khan will be “collaborative” with Sting impressed by AEW’s professionalism, long-term planning, and compensation. Sting signed a full-time, multi-year deal with the company and have added him to the roster page as an active member.

Of an interesting note is that his roster listing features a win-loss record attached to him and doesn’t have the credentials coaches like Arn Anderson or Tully Blanchard have.
