UFC Releases Yoel Romero With Three Fights Left On His Contract

After seven years with the UFC, the company has parted ways with the “Soldier of God” Yoel Romero.

The new was first reported by ESPN‘s Ariel Helwani, and then later confirmed by Malki Kawa, Romero’s long-time manager, who spoke to MMA Fighting.

The reason for Romero’s release has not yet been confirmed, however Kawa stated that Romero is, “ready to move on now and resume his career, and we are already talking to other promotions as we speak.”

Helwani tweeted the follow in regards to Romero’s UFC release:

“Yoel Romero’s UFC run has come to an unexpected end. Romero and the promotion have parted ways, multiple sources told ESPN.

Romero’s manager Malki Kawa also confirmed he is no longer under contract with the UFC.

According to sources, Romero had three fights left on his deal.”
