NXT has had a lot of issues with COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic. So much has happened with the brand and the novel coronavirus over the several months that when the two are tied into another headline, it’s almost unsurprising.
How bad is it? Some of the venues used by NXT have been labeled hotspots for the virus and some of the trainees have admitted to not feeling safe at the PC. For those not training, there has been a lot of talent frustrated with the lack of protection provided and given to them during the course of working during the pandemic. All in all, NXT and COVID-19 have made headlines this pandemic for all the wrong reasons.
It has now happened again. Fightful Select has reported a top NXT Superstar has tested positive for COVID-19. If you can call anything positive in this news, their report has also added that “this one didn’t necessarily have the concern attached to it that previous positive tests have had that led to an outbreak.”
The infected star in question hasn’t been around large crowds of people, especially within NXT. The report didn’t name the star or give any indication whether this would affect the booking of the upcoming Takeover on Sunday.
Their report has also revealed the brand has been criticized from outside and within for their handling of the pandemic. The test schedule for COVID testing for NXT has been described as “odd.”
Main roster stars are tested on a schedule prior to every television taping to allow them time to get test results back to guarantee the script is finalized in proper order.
NXT’s had its share of COVID-19 issues, including how Indi Hartwell was affected by being unable to appear at Halloween Havoc. It didn’t affect her storyline as it eventually paid off as her alliance with Candice LeRae came to light anyways, but chalk this up to another bad experience for NXT during this difficult time.
