Seth Rollins recently was written off of television so he could go home and be with Becky Lynch as they prepare for the birth of their first child.
Of course, things have to continue and Murphy has seemingly transitioned from a rushed feud ending match with Rollins into a new program against King Corbin. Naturally, fans don’t exactly see this as a great next move for Murphy, who has definitely impressed fans with his in ring work among other things. Corbin, really, may not even be the long term plan.
Ringside News has reported that Corbin is a fill-in for someone to work with Corbin, but there’s no long term plan there. There is no firm creative direction during this hiatus for Rollins that is set in stone. Corbin may not be long for that role, but obviously that is not confirmed.
They spoke with a tenured member of the creative team and when asked if Corbin was the fill in for Rollins to give Murphy something to do, and their response was “it’s not looked at that way” in regards to Corbin. They were told that it was “just a new program” and as of right now everything is “day to day” when it comes to booking.
Corbin and Murphy will have a rematch next week, and certainly that will give them something to do then. There’s no plans after next week, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens beyond that.
