WWE Files Trademark For Name Of Former Superstar

WWE’s trademark spree continues, and one of their newest applications is a return to an old name.

WWE once owned the trademark to the name Dean Ambrose, but canceled it this past August when given the choice to renew it. However, on October 8th the company once again filed for the trademark and it was entered into the database, yesterday November 23rd.

Their previous listing is considered “dead” but this is an interesting situation considering the now Jon Moxley is currently the AEW World Champion and probably has no intention of returning to the WWE anytime soon.

Another factor in all of this is the WWE will have to ask Moxley himself to sign a consent form to grant the trademark as this has been done in the past. The USPTO usually requests this from the company from the talent that portrayed the character. While Moxley probably won’t say no, it should be an amusing situation for them to go through considering how often they’ve kept talents from their names.

It’s entirely possible Cody Rhodes is hearing all this and smiling.
