JTG Speaks On Shad Gaspard, Thinks He Should Win WWE’s Warrior Award

Shad Gaspard tragically passed away earlier this summer in an attempt to rescue his son. Though his son survived being pulled under the rip current, Gaspard sadly did not and it affected the world of professional wrestling. Many showed up to help the search and rescue teams and in the end, the wrestling world lost a friend and a performer three days after the incident. One of those deeply affected was JTG, his Cryme Tyme tag team partner.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, JTG opened up about his relationship with Gaspard, and JTG is convinced the WWE should honor him with the Warrior Award at a Hall of Fame ceremony at some point.

“He definitely should. I don’t know what’s a bigger heroic act than putting his life on the line for his son. But honestly, he would have done it if it was another child. If it was me, he probably would have did the same exact thing.”

The Warrior Award was debuted in 2015 for those who have “exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance, and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of the Ultimate Warrior.” The award has only been given to one former WWE employee, Sue Aitchison in 2019.

JTG goes into detail about his relationship with his tag team partner, including how often he thinks about his late friend and more. You can watch the interview below.
