Davey Richards Updates Fans On His Absence From Professional Wrestling

In the early 2010s, Davey Richards was considered one of the best talents in the world. Richards had become one of the top stars of Impact Wrestling as one half of the Wolves with Eddie Edwards and found success in places like PWG, Ring of Honor, and even New Japan.

Richards stopped wrestling in 2017 after an appearance for EVOLVE, revealing he needed knee surgery. The following year, Richards said he was leaving wrestling to pursue his education, saying he would return in 2019. This never happened, and Richards hasn’t wrestled since those EVOLVE shows.

Earlier today, Richards took to his Twitter account and opened up about his status. According to him, after three surgeries didn’t heal the damage, Richards had a total knee replacement. Richards then apologized to his fans for his absence, and although he did not reveal if he would return to professional wrestling, this opening up is a rare moment from the former ROH World Champion.
