AEW has been known for finding off the radar talent to help build their roster and turning them into feature attractions. Stars like Will Hobbs, Anna Jay, Alan Angels, and others got some of their biggest exposure when AEW began to bring them in.
Now it seems they’ve found a new talent to ink to a contract. During the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Cody Rhodes gave his thoughts on two stars we’d see as featured talent in the second year of AEW.
“Anna Jay’s going to be a huge part of year two — Red Velvet [too] I don’t even know if Red Velvet works here yet.”
The host Aubrey Edwards, who also works for the AEW front office confirmed Cody’s thought that Red Velvet has signed, adding “that might be breaking news.”
Red Velvet has had a nice little rub since her AEW arrival. Being paired with Brandi Rhodes on television and a featured match on last night’s Dynamite against Tay Conti certainly shows AEW has faith and confidence in Red Velvet, so it should be interesting to see what’s next for her as they begin the second year of All Elite Wrestling.
