AEW Full Gear: Final PPV Of The Year Star Ratings/Results

I genuinely believe this could be AEW‘s best PPV to date. Yes it lacks the thrill of a 10,000 strong crowd but from the wrestling quality and story telling stand-points, this was exceptional.

I believe there was around 1,000 fans in attendance for this show and that alone was a feel good moment. I appreciate people’s views on feeling that it may be too soon but I trust in the testing processes and social distancing measures in place. The fans at the show had an amazing time and were vocal until the very end.

Amazing moments happened during this show; FTR and the Young Bucks facing off at last, Omega and Hangman went at it and so much more.

This PPV is worth watching regardless of what style of wrestling you like because there is a bit of everything on this show, AEW is truly a professional wrestling buffet.

I’m just a fan but as I’m quite into the analytical side of things, I believe I can show how good the matches were without showing too much of the thought process. I simply want to highlight if the matches are worth watching. So for AEW PPVs and special themed episodes, moving forward, I will be doing star ratings for matches, highlighting who are the MVPs(the best performances) of the event and briefly discuss potential match ups coming up for current/new champions. In that Order.

MVP(s)

Young Bucks and FTR

Pretty much everybody on this card was amazing but the long awaited FTR vs Young Bucks was well worth the wait. One of the best tag matches I’ve seen.

Directions For Champions

NWA women’s world title: Thunder Rosa appeared at the end of the NWA title match on the pre show, entering the ring and staring down the champion. Rosa vs Deeb rematch looks likely.

AEW women’s world title: The division has had so many injury and COVID related issues in 2020, it’s affected the way the division has gone but champion Shida keeps it alive with great matches. Hard to say who’s next for a shot, could be Abadon or Anna Jay. Even Dr. Britt Baker or Allie. They just need to ignite something. A casino battle royale for the belt would blow the division wide open, in a good way.

TNT title: Darby Allin as champion is glorious. However the story seems apparent given how things ended for him at Full Gear. Team Taz, Brian Cage & Ricky Starks both attacked Darby and both showed a desire to have the TNT belt. He may lose it quickly in a situation where he doesn’t get pinned in a triple threat against Starks and Cage, only to win it back off of whoever wins it. I’d bet Starks. Cage’s focus should be the world title for 2021.

AEW world tag team titles: The Bucks have finally done it. I believe that this reign will be abruptly short though, a tag team will quickly take advantage of Matt Jackson’s injury to upset the Young Bucks. I believe the Butcher & the Blade or the Natural Nightmares could do it as soon as December/January depending on the results of this coming Wednesday’s Dynamite.

AEW world title: The course is set. Lance Archer is more focused on Eddie Kingston and his family rather than the world title so he’s holding back on another shot. Kenny Omega just won the no.1 contenders spot so Omega vs Moxley will be the highly anticipated title match coming next, expect to see it happen in 2020. Omega will be champion.

The hype for the first Double Or Nothing was unmatchable, the class of Revolution will always be remembered but this Full Gear as an overall package… For me it’s AEW’s best PPV yet.

What a way to end the year.

…Revolution next…
