Why Daniel Bryan Joined WWE’s Creative Team

It was revealed over the summer that Daniel Bryan is now part of the SmackDown creative team. While those duties may be taking up a good chunk of his time, he returned to the ring as an active competitor recently, and WWE has plans to give him a major story line in the near future.

But Bryan didn’t join the creative team to advance his own career. Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported on Bryan’s intentions on joining the creative team and how he wants to use his position to give back to younger stars instead of using his new backstage influence to hold others down.

“One person noted to us that Bryan as part of creative is like others of his generation and the opposite of the prior generation in that they don’t want to take advantage of their position and feel it’s their role to get over as many people as they can.”

Bryan recently said on Talking Smack that while this was his last run as a full time wrestler, he wanted to use this run to help elevate others and work with young stars while telling compelling stories. While Vince McMahon makes the final decision, Daniel Bryan seems intent on using his power to make others better in their presentation.
