Lio Rush is coming to MLW.
The much-maligned former WWE Cruiserweight Champion is making his debut for MLW during their next set of shows which they’ve dubbed “The Restart” when shows resume on air on November 18th.
The former manager for Bobby Lashley has had a controversial 2020 where he alluded to his retirement and leaving the industry all together after being part of the releases the WWE made during April of this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rush used this tease to surprise people when he showed up at at a July GCW show and faced Joey Janela, returning to the company on October 10th.
Rush will have a busy end of 2020 as he was recently announced for NJPW’s Super J-Cup tournament as well. The press release is below. We also previously heard Rush being part of the MLW tapings when we reported on the MLW tapings earlier.
NEW YORK – Major League Wrestling today announced the arrival of Lio Rush when MLW restarts on November 18th with the return of the league’s flagship series FUSION.
“It’s not very often someone as special as Lio Rush ends up on the open market,” said MLW CEO Court Bauer. “Lio is hands down the top top free agent in the sport and I look forward to some of the dream matches on the horizon for fans… and for the record, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give Wale the assist on this. He had a lot to do with facilitating this relationship and we’re all grateful for it.

When not in the ring, Rush can be found recording in Maybach Music Group’s studios or working on projects with his close friend, Grammy nominated artist Wale.
