Retribution are one of the weirdest factions on WWE’s history. From day one, the angle has made no sense and the more you think about it the more plot holes appear.
Social Media
One of the positives of this faction has been their use of social media. Every member has done a good job trying to explain details about the faction and their motives. Mustafa Ali in particular has made a lot of great social media promos.
Despite all the funny tweets from T-Bar and Ali’s promos, that is not enough. WWE needs to show some of these stuff on TV or acknowledge it. Sometimes they say something on social media and do the exact opposite on TV.
Their Looks
Retribution looks like the dollar store version of Mad Max characters, the masks are too silly and are not intimating as WWE creative think they do. The “codenames” for the members of this faction are just as bad as their looks, especially considering the other meanings their names have.
Mustafa Ali recently made a promo acknowledging and explaining the reason behind the masks and the codenames. Implying that if you mocked Retribution you were a racist.
Plot Holes
Like I mentioned before, Retribution is a storyline that the more you think about it the less it makes sense. Examples of this:
- What happened to the other 20 members of the faction?
- Why did they sign contracts since they were already employed to WWE to begin with?
- Why did WWE offer them contracts since they want to “destroy” WWE?
- How are they going to destroy WWE?
- To sign the new contracts they had to show their identities, so why doesn’t WWE call the cops and arrest this vandals and fire them?
- Since they want to “destroy” WWE, why don’t they try to do something to prevent RAW from airing and cause the USA Network to cancel their TV contract?
Questions like this can be found all other social media and the many plot holes and inconsistencies with this storyline.
Can Retribution Be saved ?
In short no. The faction does not work. No one likes it and as mentioned before it makes no sense at all. WWE needs to pivot form this storyline before it makes irreparable damage to the careers of the members of this faction.
