Do The Street Profits Improvise Their Promos?

While the WWE maintains a pretty tight ship when it comes to the scripts for their weekly programming, it’s known that there is at least some moments of improvisation and wrestlers who are allowed to go off script for their promos.

As people wonder aloud who is allowed to go “off script” when it comes to promos and segments, The Street Profits seem to come up quite a bit. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford have a natural chemistry and flow to their work that leave people wondering if their promos are written by someone on staff or if they just go with the flow. Now we have an answer.

As first reported by Ringside News, The Street Profits “are more scripted than you’d expect.” Though they do improvise, but “not a lot”, much of their promo work comes from WWE writer Chris Dunn. The 4 1/2 year member of the creative team is responsible for a lot of their promos and segments, and seems to have a strong grasp of their characters, which has led to lots of internal praise for them. This has led to a lot of people seeing the relaxed delivery of the duo and having these questions about the improvised nature of their work.

This wasn’t always the case though. During Paul Heyman’s stint as Executive Director of Raw, Heyman felt the duo was being scripted too tightly, and it was said Heyman “put a stop to it” and allowed the pair to have some room to breathe in their work. It has made for interesting work for Dawkins and Ford, and the fans appreciating the work of the current Smackdown Tag Team Champions.
