Dana White On Giving Danyelle Wolf A UFC Contract

UFC president Dana White is standing by his decision to award three-time USA national boxing champion Danyelle Wolf a UFC contract. In her first ever MMA fight, Wolf (1-0) was victorious over Taneisha Tennant by unanimous decision this Tuesday at Dana White’s Contender Series 33 and as a result was then handed a UFC deal.

A back-and-forth battle saw Wolf shine early on using her crisp boxing background, but Tennant’s experience allowed her to find a way back into the fight. Wolf overcame the spirited fight back and scored the fight 29-28 before going on to explain that while she still has room to grow, the countless years of that she spent in the boxing ring should hopefully amount to something.

There are only a few women currently signed to UFC’s featherweight division and Dana White sees Wolf as a verywelcome addition. White said:

“Our 45-pound division isn’t some deep division as it is,”

“She wants to be in the UFC; she’s always wanted to be in the UFC. She fought her way into the UFC tonight, and it’s up to her whether she stays here or not.”
