WWE NXT Preview – 9/16/20

WWE NXT will return to its normal timeslot on the USA Network tonight, with a loaded line-up topped off by Finn Balor’s return to the show as NXT Champion.

Damian Priest defends the North American Championship against Timothy Thatcher

Timothy Thatcher returned from injury last month to confront Damian Preist. Preist was coming off of NXT: Takeover XXX with a huge victory earning the NXT North American Championship. Thatcher demanded that he would be Preist’s very first challenger for the newly won championship. Thatcher believed that Preist did not carry himself well enough to be North American Champion.

Will Timothy Thatcher earn what he thinks he deserves or will Damian Preist be successful in his very first title defense?

Io Shirai goes one on one against Shotzi Blackheart in a non-title match

Last week, Shotzi Blackheart and Io Shirai formed a short-lived alliance to fend off Robert Stone and Aliyah.

This was until Shotzi Blackheart got a look at Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship. She now gets an opportunity to prove herself against The Genius of the Sky in a non-title match. Shirai did not take Shotzi’s stare down last week lightly and will now get an opportunity to prove why she is the NXT Women’s Champion.

Can Shotzi Blackheart climb the mountain against Io Shirai or will The Genius of the Sky reign supreme?

Breezango put their NXT Tag Team Titles on the line against Imperium

Breezango won the Tag Titles against Imperium last month but will they have the same luck this time around?

The team of 5 years, Breezango, finally got the tag title reign they have deserved and Imperium were not impressed. Imperium see the team as a disgrace and sent a very clear message saying they will make Breezango’s reign the shortest in NXT history.

Will Breezango be successful against Imperium for a second time or will Imperium back up what they have been claiming?

Drake Maverick teams with Killian Dain against Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish

Dain and Maverick both got caught in the carnage of the Adam Cole/Pat McAfee and were taken out.

Drake Maverick went one on one with The Undisputed Era’s Kyle O’Reilly which turned south for Drake right after the match. The Undisputed Era started an attack against Maverick with Dain coming to his rescue. Drake and Killian fought off the faction with Drake thanking Killian. Dain then dropped Maverick in the middle of the ring before leaving. Maverick then came to Dain’s aid the following week before getting punched by Killian Dain again.

Will the frenemies be able to stay on the same page against one half of the Undisputed Era tonight?
