Top AEW Star Officially Changes Ring Name

AEW ran into problems with intellectual property when they opened their doors, as expected, which included potential issues regarding their talents ring names. Lucha Bro’s star Pentagon Jr was able to continue using his name at that time but that is no longer the case.

It was noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer that Pentagon Jr will now be known as Penta El Zero M. He owns that name, and AEW are allowing him to use it moving forward.

AEW were originally allowed to use Pentagon Jr’s name because they were working with AAA. The Mexican promotion own the name Pentagon Jr aswell as owning the name “Fenix” as well. This is why he has been known as Rey Fenix since debuting.

Now that AEW are merchandising the Lucha Bros, they need to have a name that they own or have explicit permission to use. It was not noted who owns the name “Lucha Bros.”
