New WWE Universal Champion Crowned At Payback

The WWE Universal Title Triple Threat No Holds Barred match closed out tonight’s Payback PPV.

The match started with The Fiend being attacked in the ring during his introduction by Braun Strowman. The two fought all over the Amway Center, but Roman Reigns was nowhere to be seen as he had yet to sign the contract for the match.

Eventually the two fought their way back to the ring. At one point The Fiend and Braun Strowman executed a superplex which broke/collapsed the ring. It was then that Roman Reigns music hit, and out he walked along with his newly appointed advocate Paul Heyman.

Roman, with chair in hand, stopped at the top of the ramp and signed the contract that Heyman was holding, then proceeded to make his way down to the ring.

Reigns would attempt to cover The Fiend, but the ref was knocked out of the ring during the collapse. Heyman would send a new ref down, but by then Roman was only able to get a two count. He would try again to make a pinfall, but to no avail. He went for Braun, same thing, no luck.

Later, The Fiend locked in the mandible claw on Roman, but Reigns was able to escape by a low blow kick to the groin. This sent The Fiend tumbling to the outside, as well as Reigns.

The finish came when Roman was able to make his way back into the ring, and caught Braun Strowman with a huge spear. Roman goes for the cover and scores the three count and becomes the NEW WWE Universal Champion.
