WWE Reported To Have Extended WWE Staff Furloughs Another Month

WWE made a mass wave of releases and furloughs to employees both on screen and backstage back in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It now looks as though those furloughed employees will have to wait a while longer before being brought back into the company for work.

In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that there are a number of WWE Staff Members who were furloughed that have had their furloughs extended through August 28th, 2020.

WWE made the decision to release or furlough numerous WWE Producers and Talent back in April of this year. Since then, WWE has brought back a couple of the people who would involved in the April 15th cuts. Drake Maverick was released, but brought back to NXT. As well as backstage Producer Pat Buck, who was also released but recently brought back and featured in an angle on Monday Night Raw with Nia Jax. Others however, have not had the same luck. Former ECW, WCW, and WWE Superstar and most recently a backstage producer/agent Lance Storm has mentioned on twitter that he is a free agent for the first time since 1994.

It was originally believed that WWE would be bringing furloughed employees back at the beginning of August. But, as cases of COVID-19 continue to increase, and sanctions and restrictions once again tighten up from state to state, the decision was made to extend those within WWE who had been furloughed for at least another month.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about those who were furloughed by WWE and their status with the company.
