Last nights WWE Extreme Rules PPV was certainly an interesting one. All eyes (pun very much intended) were on Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio, who met in an ‘Eye for an Eye match’ while there were also five titles on the line. The main event was a non-title, cinematic encounter between Bray Wyatt and Universal Champion Braun Strowman in a Swamp Fight.
The full results from Extreme Rules are as follows:
Kevin Owens def. Murphy (Pre-show)
Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura def. The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) (c) in Tables match to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships
Bayley (c) (with Sasha Banks) def. Nikki Cross (with Alexa Bliss) to defend the SmackDown Women’s Championship
MVP vs Apollo Crews (c) for the United States Championship did not take place due to injury to Crews (MVP won by forfeit, but Crews is seemingly still champion)
Seth Rollins def. Rey Mysterio in Eye for an Eye match
Asuka (c) (with Kairi Sane) vs Sasha Banks (with Bayley) for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship ended in a no contest
Drew McIntyre (c) def. Dolph Ziggler in Extreme Rules match to defend the WWE Championship
Bray Wyatt def. Braun Strowman Wyatt Swamp Fight
There were certainly some interesting results in there, most notably the US Championship match and the RAW Womens Championship match. The tone was set right away when Cesaro and Nakamura were crowned new tag team champions in the nights openinf bout. It was a shame to not see the United States Championship match due to an “injury” to Crews – at this present moment we’re not sure if it’s legitimate or part of the storyline.
Elsewhere, McIntyre, Asuka and Bayley all defended their titles in great matches and will take them into SummerSlam. The main event was won by Wyatt after he ‘drowned’ Strowman in the Swamp Fight -, which was flat out crazy from start to finish. It appeared that the Universal Champion actually won the match by drowning Wyatt first, only for The Fiend to emerge and finish him off.
