Earlier today new broke of AEW Star Sammy Guevara’s inappropriate comments about Sasha Banks from 2016 as part of the recent #SpeakingOut movement.
All Elite Wrestling has since suspended Sammy Guevara without pay. Sammy has agreed to undergo extensive sensitivity training. AEW will re-evaluate his position with the company upon completion of his treatment. In addition all of Sammy’s salary will be donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville while he is serving his suspension.
AEW released the following statement regarding Sammy Guevara:
“AEW insists on doing our part to create a world of understanding and respect for humankind. We therefore strongly condemn the extremely offensive and hurtful words of Sammy Guevara. As such, effectively immediately, Sammy is suspended without pay until further notice. Sammy has agreed to undergo extensive sensitivity training, and upon completion, his future status within the company will be re-evaluated. During his suspension, his salary will be donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville.”
