Rhea Ripley Debunks Rumors On Why She Lost NXT Women’s Title

Rhea Ripley defended her NXT Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36. The two went to war and either of the two could have won on several occasions. Ultimately, Charlotte Flair won the match and became the new champion.

Following the match, there were rumors that suggested Ripley had to return to Australia to renew her visa, but then ran into huge trouble due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Rhea Ripley spoke to metro.uk, where she addressed her visa issues. She was scheduled to return to Australia but had to cancel. She had to figure out how to renew her visa without leaving the United States.

“Yes, I had to do my visa but now i’m having to do it here because there’s no flights. I can’t get to Australia, and then if I was there I couldn’t get back out… I had people from work calling me like, ‘Are you in Australia right now?’ I’m like, ‘No, I’m not an idiot! No!’”

She then quashed the rumor that she lost the title due to her visa issues. To her, it was a laughing matter. Here is what she said:

“I sort of just laugh it off. Social media can be very negative at times. If this had been going round when I wasn’t as mentally strong as I am now, I would’ve taken it a completely different way and things wouldn’t have been as good… It’s quite funny seeing people saying that I lost because I had to go back to Australia.”

Ripley is scheduled to challenge for the NXT Women’s Title at TakeOver: In Your House. She will be competing in a triple threat match against Charlotte Flair and Io Shirai.
