This Week In Wrestling

We’re back with our second installment of “This Week In Wrestling.” We’re recapping the top five news headlines & videos from this past week in pro wrestling.

#1- Cody’s Homecoming

Cody returned to his hometown of Atlanta, GA and delivered a moonsault from the top of the cage on Wardlow, guaranteeing a match against MJF at AEW Revolution. Make sure to catch Cody’s passionate post-match speech and find out for yourself why he is the heart and soul of AEW.

#2- Tyson Fury is the King of Boxing

Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder via TKO in the 7th round in Las Vegas this past weekend. Many viewed this as big upset since Wilder was the odds on favorite going into the fight, but “The Gypsy” King proved in the end to be too strong for The Blonde Bomber.” With a trilogy fight looming between Fury and Wilder, the question is when will Vince decide to bring Tyson back to the WWE fold. Many expect a possible Lesnar and Fury match would just be too good of a money fight for McMahon to pass up promoting. The question is not if, but when will we see Tyson Fury in a WWE ring again?

#3- WWE in negotiations with ESPN for PPV streaming rights

Reports state that WWE is engaged in discussions with ESPN about putting their pay-per-view events on ESPN+, ESPN’s direct-to-consumer streaming service according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The potential deal is WWE’s attempt to figure a way to solve their declining subscription numbers on the WWE Network, and rebound from the recent dismissals of two of their top executive, co-presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson back in January.

WWE would potentially be looking to sign a deal similar to the one that Ultimate Fighting Championship has with ESPN+. Would you, the wrestling fan, be okay going back to the old way of getting your WWE pay-per-views?

#4- Thank You Tiger

New Japan stars paid their respects and celebrated the fifty- year career of “Tiger” Hattori at Korakuen Hall. “Tiger” refereed his final match in the United States last September and said farewell to the Japanese fans this past week. Hattori definitely love and respected by everyone that knew him. On behalf of HSP & Bodyslam.net we say #ThankYouTiger
