3 Reason Why a Partnership Between AEW and NJPW will not Happen

Every wrestling fan wants for NJPW and AEW to start a working relationship. These two promotions working together would be the best thing in the wrestling business.

Recent comments from Harold Meij, president of NJPW, opened the possibility of a working relationship between both promotions, but in reality both promotion are no way near of working with one another.

CMLL and AAA

AEW and NJPW have working relationships with Mexican rival promotions AAA and CMLL respectively. CMLL for years now has been working with NJPW and helping them with the young lions on their excursiones and allowing luchadors to appear on several of NJPW’s important shows like BOSJ.

AAA and AEW so far have a great working relationship, with the latter allowing some of their biggest stars like Kenny Omega (current AAA Mega Champion), Cody and The Young Bucks to wrestle on several of AAA shows.

This could ultimately be a deal breaker and make for a working relationship between AEW and NJPW impossible.

The Elite

The Elite have mentioned in multiple of occasions that they would be opened on working with NJPW, but it seems that both sides are not big fans of each other as of right now.

Both The Elite and NJPW have issues with each other like, The Elite not being able to say goodbye to the NJPW crowd on the New Year’s Dash show like other wrestlers have done in the past and NJPW not being happy on how their long term plans had to change big time because of the formation of AEW.

NJPWA

The formation of New Japan Pro-Wrestling of America makes NJPW and AEW direct competitors, from signing new talent to the booking of venues. The birth of NJPWA ultimately makes the for a working relationship with AEW a long shot.

NJPW for the moment only seems interested on working with CMLL and maybe with ROH, since the working relationship between ROH and NJPW is on a weird place as of this moment.
