MoJo Rawley On Wrestlers Not Wanting To Leave NXT – Being The Only One Who Believes In Himself

MoJo Rawley has been around WWE for over 5 years now. Being brought in when WWE was transitioning from FCW to NXT, forming a Tag team with Zack Ryder to help reinvigorate Ryder’s career, winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and then becoming a fixture on Main Event while undergoing a character change.

SportingNews sat down with MoJo for an interview. There are highlights below.

On Superstars not wanting to leave NXT

Then, NXT was essentially a stepping stone, an opportunity to showcase what you’ve got with the only goal to get to the main roster. Now, there’s guys on NXT that have no desire to move to ‘RAW’ or ‘SmackDown’ because a lot of people don’t consider moving to ‘RAW’ or ‘SmackDown’ a vertical move anymore. A lot of people now consider it a horizontal move.

On being the only one to believe in himself.

The vast majority of my career anywhere I was essentially the only guy who believed in myself, If no one else is going to hype you up, you have to do it yourself. I might not be saying ‘stay hyped’ anymore but I certainly believe it in my mind.

You’re constantly evolving your character and changing things up. It has been a process of self-reflection. I’m still working through it right now and we’ve been working on some really cool things on live events, fine-tuning some stuff so when it’s time to put it on ‘RAW,’ it’s going to be a hit and I believe in it. I think everything has been going really well for me and I can’t wait to share all my changes and everything I’ve been working on. It’s going to be good — I guarantee that.

It’s refreshing to know that even if we don’t see a lot of MoJo, he is still grinding and getting better. His gimmick might not be prevalent on TV but that doesn’t mean it’s still growing. Time will tell if the gimmick will get a chance to flourish on WWE TV.
