Eric Bischoff Reported To Not Be Involved With Creative For SmackDown Live

It was announced a couple weeks back that Eric Bischoff has been appointed Executive Director of SmackDown LIVE, and the same title has been given to Paul Heyman for RAW.

Since the news of his new role in WWE, Eric Bischoff has packed up and moved from his former home in Wyoming to Stamford, Connecticut in order to be closer to WWE Headquarters for his new job with the company. The actual responsibilities that would fall under the umbrella of duties for Eric Bischoff as the Executive Director of SmackDown Live were not originally known, however it now looks like he and Paul Heyman will have very different roles backstage despite having the same job title for their respected brand.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the duties that Eric Bischoff will have as Executive Director of SmackDown LIVE. It is being said that Bischoff will have nothing to do with creative for SmackDown Live.

Meltzer said:

“Right now there’s no story [about Bischoff in creative], you know? [He will] interface, help build the brand, you know I guess maybe ideas for the brand, but not necessarily creative ideas for the brand. You know, work with Fox. Things like that.”

“The people in creative have basically been told that he’s not running creative on that brand and he might not eve have anything to do with creative.”

It is interesting that Eric Bischoff will not have anything to do with creative for SmackDown, especially after it was implied that he would when he was originally announced for the position. Instead he will be working as a liaison between FOX and WWE.
