SmackDown LIVE On FOX Will Air 51 Friday’s A Year

SmackDown LIVE’s big move to the FOX Network in October, is a huge deal, but there are still a lot of questions regarding the move that have yet to be answered.

As we have been covering for over a year now, it’s expected that more WWE programming will eventually also find a home on one of the FOX networks, as there has already been a WWE centered talk show program announced for FS1. It has also been reported that there are serious talks to bring NXT’s weekly television program to FS1 on Wednesday night’s, which in theory would go head to head with AEW’s new TV show that begins in October.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talks about a meeting that FOX had with their affiliates yesterday, and it was stated that SmackDown LIVE on FOX will air 51 out of 52 weeks on the network, as it will be preempted one week out of the year due to the MLB World Series.

Meltzer said:

“Fox had a meeting with their affiliates today and they talked about WWE […] and I guess the key stuff is that SmackDown will air 51 Fridays a year on Fox. They will preempt it for the World Series. It’s expected that they’ll move to FS1 that week, but that’s not official.”

This had been brought up around the time that WWE’s new deal with FOX was announced, as many wondered if SmackDown would take a backseat to some of the already featured live sporting events that air on the FOX Network. With the huge numbers that the MLB World Series does it isn’t surprising that WWE will be moved for that week, which now looks like it will be the only event that disrupts SmackDown’s regularly scheduled air time.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about WWE’s move to FOX, or any other programming that is being discussed for one of their other networks.
