The ESPYS Announce WWE Will Have It’s Own Category

Wikipedia describes the ESPYS as

An ESPY Award (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) is an accolade currently presented to recognize individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony.

WWE may not be considered a sport by many people who don’t watch wrestling, and even by many people who do. They are and entertainment company first and foremost. Which couldn’t be more evident than when a Monday Night Raw from two weeks ago only had wrestling for 30% of the three hour program.

Needless to say, they are enough of a mainstream force that they not only are a case study at Harvard Business School, but now they have their own category on the sports centric award show.

There are only four choices for “Best WWE Moment”

  • Roman Reigns returns to Raw after battling leukemia
  • Becky Lynch becomes Becky Two Belts at WrestleMania 35
  • Kofi Kingstons first WWE World Championship won at WrestleMania 35
  • Ronda Rousey wins her first Raw women’s championship

The host this year is comedian Tracy Morgan

The polls are open for voting as of this writing.
