Are We Seeing the Start of a AEW NJPW Partnership?

All Elite Wrestling’s Chris Jericho faces Kazichuka Okada to Main Event NJPW Dominion 2019

Last Saturday, Chris Jericho issued a challenge to IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada for his title at Dominion on June 9th. We know that Jericho’s AEW contract allows him to do other ventures like competing in New Japan, but did anyone imagine that he would be facing Okada a week after facing Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing?

Do We See The NJPW/AEW Alliance?

This certainly makes wrestling fans wonder with All Elite Wrestling looking to build partnerships with other promotions, will New Japan be added to the list? Is this just part of Jericho’s contractually obligated dates he still had with NJPW or is there more to this?

Think About the Matches If This Happened

We could see Kenny Omega face Kota Ibushi in a story where Ibushi goes after his “Golden Lover” after leaving him in January. We can get a real pay off to the Guerrillas of Destiny vs Young Bucks storyline. Before Jushin Thunder Liger retires at Wrestle Kingdom 14, we can see Liger face Brian Pillman, Jr. We’re just getting started!

How Would You Protect Wrestlers Crossing Promotions

Certainly, a question to ask if you’re either All Elite Wrestling or New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is something you would have to seriously be careful about.
