Reason Why WWE Wanted To Sign Shane Helms As A Producer

As we previously reported, WWE has recently signed a few well known names to the role of backstage producers. One of those names is Shane “Hurricane” Helms, whom you probably remember for his time in WWE as “The Hurricane”. It is being said that Helms is someone that WWE had really been wanting to bring in as a producer for a long time now. Helms is said to know the business well, but that isn’t the only reason WWE wanted to bring him in.

On a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson talks about Shane “Hurricane” Helms and his new job as a backstage producer for WWE. It was mentioned that Helms offers more than just great suggestions about how to make matches work, but that he also exudes a rare “morale-building” character, which makes for a great environment to be around.

Regarding Shane Helms, Johnson said:

“The one producer especially that I am excited about being there is Shane Helms because when he walked into Impact during that period when Big John was in charge, he came in with a fresh set of eyes and there were always things that would happen because of his impact and he said, ‘Why’s it have to be that way?’ and he brought a different energy backstage and made the matches better and helped the morale of that locker room.”

“You know he was let go in the middle of that Jeff Jarrett take over that didn’t work out and all that other stuff, but he gets the opportunity to do what he did [in Impact] for WWE that will help the morale. It will help the guys and it will be a fresh set of eyes and apparently they were pursuing Helms for months and months dating back to last year about coming in and he finally said, ‘Alright, let’s do it.’”

Hopefully Helms can provide a fresh and new outlook on things in WWE, as it has also been reported that WWE is looking to take a different approach creatively.
