WWE Starting To Change Up Their Creative Direction?

WWE’s upcoming move to Fox later this year is going to be a big deal, no question about that. However, the company’s current product has not been doing well ratings wise which is something WWE is trying to change.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about WWE’s creative direction, and how the company needs to do something now before they risk losing more than just ratings.

Regarding WWE’s ratings situation, Meltzer said:

“I mean one of the things again and a lot of stuff is different and we saw some of it tonight.”

“They know that they need to get going. They need to get ratings up. They need to get interest in this product up because they’re in there with the big boys and you know that will be… everything that they’re doing and if they go on Fox — this is months away and they got to get that audience up. If they go on Fox and they don’t have a good number on Fox the stock goes down, the value goes down. They will be viewed as someone who can’t hang in real prime-time on a real network station.”

“None of these things they want.”

It is said that WWE is doing a lot of different things to try and garner more interest in their product. One example of this we saw this past Sunday night at the 2019 Royal Rumble, as WWE is attempting to warm their audience up to the idea of intergender wrestling.

With SmackDown moving to FOX in October it is highly likely that WWE will put more focus on the brand leading up the debut on the new network.
