Altercation Backstage Following NXT TakeOver: Phoenix

WWE’s NXT brand held their NXT TakeOver: Phoenix special earlier tonight from the Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix, Arizona. The night was packed full of intense action and amazing high spots.

Following Tomasso Ciampa’s successful defense of the NXT Championship of Aleister Black, the show went off the air as both Ciampa and the newly crowned North American Champion Johnny Gargano held their titles high over their heads at the top of the entrance ramp. But apparently that wasn’t the end of the action, after the show went off the air there was an altercation backstage between numerous members of the NXT roster.

During the post-TakeOver Q&A Session on Facebook live Triple H started things off by addressing the altercation that occurred backstage between Aleister Black, The Velveteen Dream, and Ricochet against Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa, and Johnny Gargano. Triple H said:

“Yeah, things got a little heated. Not on the air on the Network, not part of the TakeOver event. Things got a little bit heated, but everything’s under control now.”

“A lot of competitive people, tempers boiled over… but we’ll settle it all.”

According to accounts Triple H was needed to step in and break things up between the six members of the NXT roster. However, being that Triple H brought this up during the social media Q&A session, it is highly likely that this was all kayfabe.

You can see Triple H’s post-TakeOver Q&A below.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more regarding this situation backstage following tonight’s TakeOver in Phoenix.
