On the New Year’s edition of Smackdown Live, which was taped on Saturday, the show had a great main event. A Fatal 5-Way was booked as the main event, where the winner would become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship and face Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble.
Mustafa Ali, Rey Myterio, Randy Orton, Samoa Joe, and AJ Styles all got to fight for a chance to face The New Daniel Bryan on January 27th.
The Phenomenal One picked up the win after pinning ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton after a springboard 450 splash. Thus he will now challenge Bryan for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
