The Way In Which WWE Kept WWE Championship Match On Smackdown Live A Secret

On this week’s Smackdown live, there was a huge surprise in store for fans as they got to see AJ Styles take on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. This match was initially supposed to happen at Crown Jewel but with Daniel Bryan refusing to go to the event, they had the match earlier.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials had kept the match under wraps for as long as they could, with the rundown sheet backstage only listing an in-ring segment between the two and nothing else. Those backstage were also aware that a match was going to happen but had no idea who would be in the match and when it would happen.

Those who were backstage already had an idea it wasn’t going to be something ordinary as the match was supposed to go on for 2 segments according to the sheet. In the end, WWE did manage to keep the match a secret and after the match, Samoa Joe would make his return, beat up and then challenge AJ Styles for the WWE title at Crown Jewel.
