Raw Recap For August 8th, 2018

(Segment 1) Baron Corbin and Kurt Angle Kickoff Raw: Angle talks about Lesnar not being suspended for his actions last week and will still face Roman at Summerslam for the title. Roman came out to talk about how weak Corbin is and that he’s thankful Lesnar isn’t suspended from their match. His mouthing off to Corbin lead to them having a match. Angle said the match would start NOW!

(Segment 2) Roman Reigns vs Baron Corbin: I think these two can have good matches if they’re given time and a good spot, they are good performers. Their match was very physical and had high spots. This was a good way to kickoff Raw with some good action. This match got a little too much time but still had good spots. Balor came out to distract Corbin as Roman hit Baron with a Superman Punch when he turned around outside the ring. Roman then threw Corbin in the ring and speared him for the win.

(Segment 3) Bobby Roode vs Mojo Rawley: When they announced this match last week I wasn’t really looking forward to it because Mojo isn’t a good performer at all. Mojo is obviously in the midst of a push right now and they are high on him for some reason. Roode got the victory that I thought he wasn’t going to get. Roode pinned him after hitting the Glorious DDT.

(Segment 4) Titus O’neil vs Rezar: This match was really just a filler because this feud has no fire or pop to it. I didn’t have high hopes for this match anyway. Rezar dominated Titus most of the match and got the win via pinfall. Their feud is now 1-1.

(Segment 5) Braun Strowman vs Jinder Mahal: I will say the SAME thing I said last week, these two aren’t going to have a good match. WWE is getting so boring with all of these repetitive matches that we didn’t want to see in the first place. Jinder won via DQ and the match wasn’t good at all and saw little action.

(Segment 6) Seth Rollins vs Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre: These are the only guys/feud I look forward to every Raw. I always expect good matches from these guys no matter what and they are the highlight of Raw. Roman was supposed to be Seth’s partner but was told he cannot compete again tonight by Corbin. So Seth would have to go out on his own in a handicap match. This match obviously had good action and it was the highlight of the night. Dolph ended up pinning Seth though which sucked.

(Segment 7) B-Team vs Revival: This match was to set up their Triple Threat Raw Tag Title Match for Raw next week. I really hope the Revival win at Summerslam and take those titles to make this division better. The action was alright in this match until it ended in a draw/DQ as Bray and Matt took out both teams.

(Segment 8) Sasha Banks and Bayley vs Riott Squad: This has been yet another repeating match, always happens before the main event. Whether it be a women’s singles match between one member of these teams or a women’s tag match of some fashion. I thought this match would actually be pretty good and it was. Ruby Riott returned to help Liv and Sarah get the win. Ruby has been out since late June with a MCL injury and has finally returned.

(Segment 9) Ronda Rousey vs Alicia Fox: This match was a no brainer on who would win and what time slot it would be in. We all knew Ronda would win because of her push and status in WWE. I didn’t expect this match to be good at all because Fox isn’t a good performer at all. This match got no time at all and wasn’t good. Rousey won via submission and made Fox tap.

Overall Raw Grade: D
