Things To Look Forward To In The Second Half Of WWE 2018

The WWE is looking all geared up for the second half of the year with new U.K. TV deals to be signed, adding to its already burgeoning stock. However, that is not the only thing expected to get a boost in the next half. There is a lot of action scheduled with many superstars looking to do justice to their performances in the first half, new feuds and rivalries, and finally we are going to witness another comeback from a legend.

According to the latest WWE news, Rey Mysterio’s new two year deal with WWE is all but done and is only pending an official announcement. He made a shocking return to WWE at the Royal Rumble 2018 earlier this year in January, and was immensely endeared by the fans. His negotiation with the WWE has been going on for months, but is almost to its completion as we are definitely going to witness a comeback by the Lucha legend.

Rey is expected to join the SmackDown Live and could face opponents like Jeff Hardy, The Miz and Daniel Bryan. It remains to be seen if his comeback would be as successful in the terms of The Undertaker and Goldberg.

Talking of comebacks, The Undertaker is still going strong at 53 and although he only wrestles part time now, he definitely commands a formidable presence in WWE. Goldberg who also made a successful comeback said that it is upto The Undertaker himself as to when he decides to hang up his boots. He suffered a big defeat against Roman Reigns last year, but then again came back to defeat the likes of John Cena and Rusev.

Roman Reigns has largely been denied his victory over Brock Lesnar. Reigns has a huge fan following all over the world, and his inability to win the Universal Championship has frustrated them. His defeat at the Wrestlemania 34 resulted in low profile pay-per-view matches against Samoa Joe and Jinder Mahal which drew negative fan reaction.

On the other hand, there has been an intense ongoing feud between Finn Balor and Baron Corbin, which took to social media in the form of Twitter. The exchange of words ended with Balor showing Corbin a picture of his butt. On July 5th, WWE confirmed that Finn Balor will go head to head against Baron Corbin in the WWE Extreme Rules match while Reigns has been drawn against Bobby Lashley. WWE further mentioned that AJ Styles will defend his WWE Championship against Rusev and Jeff Hardy will look to retain his US title against Shinsuke Nakamura.

Asuka just won the internet with her slap on James Ellsworth in what was dubbed as “the battle of the sexes” by GM Paige. Ellsworth, who had previously prevented Asuka from winning the SmackDown Women’s title from Carmella, took quite a beating from her before fleeing from the ring with Asuka on his heels. The match unfortunately ended in a double count out. Asuka will have her rematch in the next half as well.
