JJ Dillon Convinced The Rock To Remain In WWF

JJ Dillon spoke to David Penzer of Sitting Ringside, and he revealed something that The Rock would never tell the world because it happened more than 15 years ago.

You might be scratching your heads to identify the name JJ Dillon, 75, who is a retired professional wrestler who worked for many companies that include World Wrestling Federation that known as WWE, He challenged Tito Santana for the Intercontinental Champion that Seth Rollins is holding right now. However, he failed to defeat Santana and then took a loss.

He spoke to Sitting Ringside, and Dillon said, “I was a part of the decision process that ended up hiring (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and Mark Henry. I remember one night I think we were at The Garden, The Rock pulled me aside and said, ‘I know I can speak openly and honest with you, can you make some phone calls to get me out of here (World Wrestling Entertainment).

From all my time in college and in Florida and my time in the business, I always had money in my pocket. [Right now] I don’t have two dollars in my pocket, I feel vulnerable.’ In this particular moment you can’t begin to imagine what is laying in front of you regarding your success and financial rewards, because you don’t have two dollars in your pocket. Because it hasn’t yet happened yet, you can’t let this moment change you. I told him, ‘this is the lowest of lows you’ll experience.’

I said, ‘give me five minutes. put this [thought process] on hold.’ Five minutes later I come back, and I tell him to open up his hand. I put $200, $300, $500, whatever it was in his hand and told him to wrap his hand around it. ‘Now put that hand in your pocket, how does that feel to have money again?

This moment right there changed his whole mental outlook and helped him.

It happened when Dwayne Johnson failed to capture the attention of the WWE during his first run. Vince McMahon asked The Rock to wrap up and leave WWF when he was playing Rocky Mavia role in the WWF.

Author’s Take

Veteran Wrestler Rocky Johnson was the father of The Rock, and they were homeless at some point. Rocky’s family struggled financially throughout Dwayne’s youth until he became The Rock. When Dwayne Johnson asked Vince McMahon to give him once more chance and requested to give him a MIC, then rest is history.
