Potential Plans For the WWE Universal Championship

On the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the potential plans for the WWE Universal Title following Brock Lesnar’s victory at WrestleMania, and the news yesterday that he had re-signed with the company.

Meltzer says that the plan is still to put the title on Roman Reigns at some point, and adds that it was probably felt that it might be better to have the championship change hands at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. He points out that WWE is trying to build a relationship with Saudi Arabia, and that this might be a perk given to them.

“It could just be that Vince McMahon thought it would be better to change championships on the Saudi Arabia show. I mean, the negative is that not a lot of people are going to watch that show. Both because it’s not WrestleMania and it’s not on a Friday afternoon. But at the same time, they’re really trying to build a relationship with Saudi Arabia for a lot of reasons, and this might be a perk given to them.”
