Rusev Reportedly Asked For His Release From WWE

In a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson is reporting that WWE Superstar Rusev asked for his release from the company before WWE put him in the United States Championship Match at WrestleMania 34 because he was unhappy with how he was being used. This would explain why he has been receiving a push on WWE programming.

“I know I heard a month or three weeks ago that Rusev was pushing for a release because he wasn’t happy with how he was being used, but I could not confirm that with a second source. So, it’s possible it’s true, and I feel it’s interesting that he was suddenly added to the match [at WrestleMania].”

While Johnson says he could only confirm this with one of his sources, we have attempted to find out more by reaching out to some of our sources to see if they can confirm this report.

We will keep you updated if anything more regarding Rusev becomes known.
